[ 84 ]Roaming in analog networksIn some areas, the wireless system automatically recognizes roamingphones. In other areas, you need to contact the service provider before thesystem can recognize your phone. The operator needs to know your phonenumber, your phone's IMEI (electronic serial number), and how you planto pay for your calls. There is normally an additional charge for roamingcalls.Your phone’s IMEI is located on the back, under the battery. Your phone’sIMEI can normally be read over the air by roaming wireless serviceproviders when you call them to register your roaming presence on theirwireless network.• Change module codeYour analog module has a module code that is used with the modulesecurity feature described later in this chapter. The module code is initiallyset to 12345. To change the module code, press Menu 4-4-7-5. Thephone prompts you for the existing code, the new code, and verificationof the new code. At each prompt, enter the information and press OK.• Digital/analog selectionYou can choose which type of network you want your phone to use:Analog only, Digital only, or either (Digit. & analog).Press Menu 4-5-1 and select one of the following choices:Digit. & analog The phone will work in digital or analog networks.The phone chooses the best one for you.Digital only The phone will work in GSM 1900 digital networksonly.Analog only The phone will work in analog networks only.
