To use an IRconnection, the device with whichyou want to establish aconnection must be IrDAcompliant. You can send or receivedata to or from a compatiblephone or data device (for example,a computer) through the IR port ofyour phone.Do not point the IR (infrared) beamat anyone's eyes or allow it tointerfere with other IR devices.Infrared devices are Class 1 laserproducts.When sending or receiving data,ensure that the IR ports of thesending and receiving devices arepointing at each other and thatthere are no obstructions betweenthe devices.To activate the IR port of yourphone to receive data using IR,select Menu > Settings >Connectivity > Infrared.To deactivate the IR connection,select Menu > Settings >Connectivity > Infrared. When thephone displays Deactivateinfrared?, select Yes.If data transfer is not startedwithin 2 minutes after theactivation of the IR port, theconnection is canceled and mustbe started again.IR connection indicatorWhen is shown continuously,the IR connection is activated, andyour phone is ready to send orreceive data through its IR port.When blinks, your phone istrying to connect to the otherdevice, or a connection has beenlost.Packet data (EGPRS)Enhanced general packet radioservice (EGPRS), packet data, is anetwork service which allowsmobile phones to send and receivedata over an Internet protocol(IP)-based network. It enableswireless access to data networkssuch as the Internet.The applications that may usepacket data are MMS, browsingsessions, e-mail, remote SyncML,Java application downloading,push to talk, instant messaging,and the PC dial-up.To define how to use the service,select Menu > Settings >Connectivity > Packet data >Packet data connection.Select When needed to set thepacket data connection to beestablished when an application
