ConnectTo connect to the service, access the instant messagesmenu, select the IM service, if needed, and Login.To disconnect from the IM service, select Options >Logout.SessionsWhen connected to the service, your status, as seen byothers, is shown in a status line: My status: Online, Mystatus: Busy, or Status: Appear off. To change your ownstatus, select Change.Below the status line there are three folders containingyour contacts that show their status: Conversations,Online (), and Offline (). To answer an invitation or replyto a message, expand the Conversations folder, scrollto the contact to whom you want to chat, and selectOpen.● Groups > Public groups — List of bookmarks to publicgroups provided by the service provider (not visible ifgroups are not supported by the network). To start anIM session with a group, scroll to a group, and selectJoin. Enter the screen name that you want to use asyour nickname in the conversation. When you havesuccessfully joined the group conversation, you canstart a group conversation. You can create a privategroup. See "Groups," p. 35.● Search > Users or Groups — to search for other IMusers or public groups on the network by phonenumber, screen name, e-mail address, or name. If youselect Groups, you can search for a group by a memberin the group, group name, topic, or ID.● Options > Chat or Join group — to start theconversation when you have found the user or thegroup that you wantAccept or reject an invitationIf you receive a new invitation, to read it, select Read. Ifmore than one invitation is received, select an invitationand Open. To join the private group conversation, selectAccept, and enter the screen name you want to use asyour nickname. To reject or delete the invitation, selectOptions > Reject or Delete.34
