Using encryption reduces the riskof unauthorised access to your data.WLAN connectionsTo use a WLAN, you must create an internet access pointin a WLAN. Use the access point for applications that needto connect to the internet. A WLAN connection isestablished when you create a data connection using aWLAN access point. The active WLAN connection is endedwhen you end the data connection. You can also end theconnection manually.You can use a WLAN during a voice call or when packetdata connection is active. You can only be connected toone WLAN access point device at a time, but severalapplications can use the same internet access point.When the device is in the Offline profile, you can still usea WLAN, if available. Remember to comply with anyapplicable safety requirements when establishing andusing a WLAN connection.If you move the device to another location within theWLAN and out of range of a WLAN access point, theroaming functionality can automatically connect yourdevice to another access point that belongs to the sameWLAN. As long as you remain within range of access pointsthat belong to the same network, your device can stayconnected to the network.Tip: To check the unique media access control (MAC)address that identifies your device, for example toconfigure the MAC address of your device to a WLANrouter, enter *#62209526# in the home screen.
