To define the packet data settings, select Packet dataconnection and When available to register thedevice to the packet data network when you switch thedevice on in a supported network, or When needed toregister the device to a packet data network only whenan application or action attempts to establish a packetdata connection. This setting affects all access pointsfor packet data connections. To use the device as apacket data modem for your computer, select Accesspoint, and enter the access point name provided byyour service provider. To use a high-speed dataconnection, select High speed packet access >Enabled.WLAN settingsSelectMenu > Control panel > Settings andConnection > Wireless LAN.To have an indicator displayed when there is a wirelessLAN (WLAN) available in your current location, selectShow WLAN availability > Yes.To select the interval for your device to scan foravailable WLANs, and to update the indicator, selectScan for networks. This setting is not available unlessyou select Show WLAN availability > Yes.To set the device to test the internet capability of theselected WLAN automatically, to ask for permissionevery time, or to never perform the connectivity test,select Internet connectivity test > Runautomatically, Ask every time, or Never run. If youselect Run automatically or allow the test to beperformed when the device asks for it, and theconnectivity test is performed successfully, the accesspoint is saved to internet destinations.To check the unique media access control (MAC)address that identifies your device, enter*#62209526# in the home screen. The MAC address isdisplayed.Advanced WLAN settingsSelect Options > Advanced settings. The advancedWLAN settings are normally defined automatically, andchanging them is not recommended.To edit the settings manually, select Automaticconfiguration > Disabled, and define the following:• Long retry limit — Enter the maximum number oftransmission attempts if the device does not receivea receiving acknowledgement signal from thenetwork.• Short retry limit — Enter the maximum number oftransmission attempts if the device does not receivea clear-to-send signal from the network.• RTS threshold — Select the data packet size atwhich the WLAN access point device issues a requestto send before sending the packet.• TX power level — Select the power level of yourdevice when sending data.• Radio measurements — Enable or disable theradio measurements.• Power saving — Select whether to use the WLANpower saving mechanism to save the power in thedevice battery.
