Yourphone automatically changes a text message to a multimedia message when a fileis attached.■ Text messagesYour device supports sending text messages beyond the character limit for asingle message. Longer messages are sent as a series of two or more messages.AT&T may charge accordingly. Characters that use accents or other marks andcharacters from some language options, such as Spanish, take up more space,which limits the number of characters you can send in a single message.An indicator at the top of the display shows the total number of characters leftand the number of messages needed for sending.Before you can send any text or e-mail messages, you need to save your messagecenter number. Select Menu > Messaging > Message settings >Text > Messagecenter > Add center, enter a name, and the number from AT&T.■ Multimedia messagesA multimedia message can contain text, pictures, and sound or video clips.Only devices that have compatible features can receive and display multimediamessages. The appearance of a message may vary depending on the receivingdevice.The wireless network may limit the size of MMS messages. If the inserted pictureexceeds this limit the device may make it smaller so that it can be sent by MMS.Important: Exercise caution when opening messages.
