Tools Certificate managementDigital certificates do not guarantee safety; they are usedto verify the origin of software.Glossary: Digital certificates are used to verify theorigin of the XHTML or WML pages and installedsoftware. However, they can only be trusted if theorigin of the certificate is known to be authentic.In the certificate management main view, you can see alist of authority certificates that are stored in your device.Scroll right to see a list of personal certificates, ifavailable.Digital certificates should be used if you want to connectto an online bank or another site or remote server foractions that involve transferring confidential information.They should also be used if you want to reduce the risk ofviruses or other malicious software and be sure of theauthenticity of software when downloading and installingsoftware.Expired certificate or Certificate not valid yet is showneven if the certificate should be valid, check that thecurrent date and time in your device are correct.View certificate details—check authenticityYou can only be sure of the correct identity of a serverwhen the signature and the period of validity of a servercertificate have been checked.You are notified on the device display if the identity of theserver is not authentic or if you do not have the correctsecurity certificate in your device.To check certificate details, scroll to a certificate, andselect Options > Certificate details. When you opencertificate details, the validity of the certificate is checked,and one of the following notes may be displayed:• Certificate not trusted—You have not set anyapplication to use the certificate.
