Tools106Packet dataThe packet data settings affect all access points using apacket data connection.Packet data conn.—If you select When available and youare in a network that supports packet data, the deviceregisters to the packet data network. Also, starting anactive packet data connection is quicker (for example, tosend and receive e-mail). If you select When needed, thedevice uses a packet data connection only if you start anapplication or action that needs it. If there is no packetdata coverage and you select When available, the deviceperiodically tries to establish a packet data connection.Access point—The access point name is needed to useyour device as a packet data modem to your PC.Configs.You may receive trusted server settings from your networkoperator or service provider in a configuration message, orthe settings may be stored on your SIM or USIM card. Deactivating thepersonal identification number (PIN) code request may notbe allowed by some SIM cards. See ‘Glossary of PIN andlock codes’, p. 107.PIN code, PIN2 code, and Lock code—You can change thelock code, PIN code, and PIN2 code. These codes can onlyinclude the numbers from 0 to 9. See ‘Glossary of PIN andlock codes’, p. 107.Avoid using access codes similar to the emergencynumbers to prevent accidental dialling of the emergencynumber.If you forget any of these codes, contact your serviceprovider.Autolock period—You can set an autolock period, atimeout after which the device automatically locks andcan be used only if the correct lock code is entered. Entera number for the timeout in minutes, or select None toturn off the autolock period.To unlock the device, enter the lock code.When the device is locked, calls still may be possible to theofficial emergency number programmed into your device.
