Using a WLAN, you canconnect your device to the internet and compatibledevices that have WLAN support.About WLANYour device can detect and connect to WLANs. Usinga WLAN, you can connect your device to the internetand compatible devices that support WLAN.To use a WLAN connection, you need the following:● WLAN must be available in your location.● Your device must be connected to the WLAN.Some WLANs are protected, and you need anaccess key from the service provider to connectto them.● An internet access point created for WLAN. Usethe access point for applications that need toconnect to the internet.A WLAN connection is established when you createa data connection using a WLAN internet accesspoint. The active WLAN connection ends when youend the data connection.You can use WLAN during a voice call or when packetdata is active. You can only be connected to oneWLAN access point device at a time, but severalapplications can use the same access point.Note: In France, you are only allowed to useWLAN indoors.Features that use WLAN, or that are allowed to runin the background while using other features,increase the demand on battery power and reducethe battery life.Your device supports the following WLAN features:● IEEE 802.11b/g standard● Operation at 2.4 GHz● Wired equivalent privacy (WEP), Wi-Fi protectedaccess (WPA/WPA2), and 802.1x authenticationmethods.
