11FEATURES OF THE CONSOLEThe advanced console offers an array of featuresdesigned to make your workouts more effective andenjoyable.When you use the manual mode of the console, you canchange the resistance of the pedals with the touch of abutton. While you exercise, the console will display con-tinuous exercise feedback. You can also measure yourheart rate using the handgrip heart rate monitor.The console offers a selection of onboard workouts. Eachworkout automatically changes the resistance of the ped-als as it guides you through an effective workout. You canalso set a calorie, distance, or time goal.The console also features an iFit mode that enablesthe console to communicate with your wireless networkthrough an optional iFit module. With the iFit mode, youcan download personalized workouts, create your ownworkouts, track your workout results, race against otheriFit users, and access many other features. Begin pedaling or press any button on theconsole to turn on the console.When you turn on the console, the display will turnon. The console will then be ready for use.2. Select the manual mode.Press the Home button or press either the Speedbutton or the Calorie button repeatedly to select themanual mode.If a wireless iFit module is not inserted into the con-sole and connected to iFit, the manual mode will beselected automatically.3. Change the resistance of the pedals as desired.As you pedal, change the resistance of the pedals bypressing the Resistance increase and decrease but-tons or by pressing one of the numbered Resistancebuttons.Note: After you press a button, it will take a momentfor the pedals to reach the selected resistance level.4. Follow your progress with the display.The display can show the following workoutinformation:Calories (Cals.)—This display mode will show theapproximate number of calories you have burned.Calories per Hour (Cals./Hr)—This display mode willshow the approximate number of calories you are burningper hour.Distance (Dist.)—This display mode will show thedistance that you have pedaled in miles or kilometers.Pulse—This display mode will show your heart ratewhen you use the handgrip heart rate monitor (seestep 5).Resistance (Resist.)—This display mode will showthe resistance level of the pedals for a few secondseach time the resistance level changes.Speed—This display mode will show your pedalingspeed in miles per hour or kilometers per hour.Time—When the manual mode is selected, thisdisplay mode will show the elapsed time. When aworkout is selected, this display mode will show thetime remaining in the workout.The matrix offers several display tabs. Press theDisplay button until the desired tab is shown. You canalso press the increase and decrease buttons next tothe Enter button.Speed—This tab will show a profile of the speed set-tings of the workout. A new segment will appear at theend of each minute.My Trail—This tab will show a track that represents1/4 mile (400 m). As you exercise, the flashing rect-angle will show your progress. The My Trail tab willalso show the number of laps you complete.Calorie—This tab will show the approximate amountof calories you have burned. The height of each seg-ment represents the amount of calories burned duringthat segment.
