Chapter 3 Instant Internet 100 hardware installation 31Setting Up the BayStack Instant Internet 100 UnitInstant Internet quick installationThese steps guide you through the general process of installing your InstantInternet hardware.The communications connection is necessary to provide the link between yourInstant Internet unit and your Internet service provider (ISP). To ensure a propercommunications connection, make sure that you have ordered the appropriatefollowing services:• Installation from your telephone service company (telco)• Service from your telco• Internet access service from your ISPBe sure to review the information in “Installation checklist” on page 25.If you experience problems during installation, unplug all connections, except theLAN connection, and then restart the Instant Internet unit.To install your Instant Internet hardware:1 Place your Instant Internet unit on a flat surface.Place the unit on any appropriately level surface that can safely support theweight of the unit and attached cables. Make sure that there is adequate spacearound the unit for ventilation and access to cable connectors. Allow at least 2inches (5.1cm) on each side for proper ventilation and 5 inches (12.7cm) atthe back for power cord clearance and ventilation.Note: Before you begin the installation, be sure that the switch settingsare set to normal operation.
