Hot swapping interface modules 61Procedure stepsStep Action1 Use a Phillips screwdriver to remove the slot cover plate from theslot in which you will install the Small Module.2 Align the Small Module with the slot and the slot module guides.3 Slide the Small Module into the Voice Carrier Medium Moduleuntil the Small Module connector touches the back panel of theVoice Carrier Medium Module.4 Push gently, but firmly, to seat the Small Module connector in theVoice Carrier Medium Module.5 Use a Phillips screwdriver to tighten the two captive screws thatsecure the Small Module to the Voice Carrier Medium Module.--End--Hot swapping interface modulesIf an interface module fails and you must replace it, you can hot swap themodule. All of the Secure Router 2330/4134 external interface modulesare hot swappable.Use the procedure in this section to hot swap all external interfacemodules.ATTENTIONHot swap an interface module only if the Secure Router 2330/4134 recognizesthe card. When a card fails to initialize, the Secure Router 2330/4134 shouldstill recognize that the module is installed. Use the show chassis command toverify that the Secure Router 2330/4134 recognizes that the interface module isinstalled.ATTENTIONYou must replace the interface module with a module of the same type as thatyou remove. You must insert the replacement module in the same slot fromwhich you remove the failed interface module.ATTENTIONNortel recommends that you shut down an operating interface module using theshutdown command before you remove it from the Secure Router 2330/4134chassis.Traffic on the interface module you are hot swapping is interrupted duringthe hot swap procedure.
