Plan ducting and wiringbefore proceeding with installation.CAUTION: Check area above planned location to be surethat:(1) Ducting can be installed or that area is sufficient forproper venting. The ceiling joists should run toward anoutside wall.(2) Wiring can be run to the planned location.(3) No wiring or other obstruction might interfere withinstallation.INSTALLATION1. The fan light must be mounted to a ceiling joist. Decidewhere you want to locate the fan-light and then determineif there is a ceiling joist near.LOCATING JOIST: Lightly tap the ceiling. A hollow soundmeans no joists, a solid sound means a joist is present. Tobe sure you have located a joist, drill a small hole (1⁄16") andprobe into the ceiling with a wire. Leave wire in hole to helplocate it in the attic or crawl space.2. Locate hole in attic or crawl space. Make sure hole iswithin 9" of joist.3. From below, saw a line from hole to joist.4. Using the housing as a template, mark the ceiling for thecutout. Cutout dimensions: 91⁄8" x 91⁄8". One side of cutoutmust be right next to joist.5. Make cutout along marked line.6. In attic or crawl space, run 4" round duct from outside tocutout location.7. Run wiring to cutout location.8. Place housing into cutout and secure housing to joist.Make sure housing is flush with finished ceiling. Connectduct.9. From below, connect wiring. Install power/blower unit,grille/reflector assembly, fluorescent lamp and lens.INSTALLATION IN EXISTING CONSTRUCTIONOne Year Limited WarrantyWARRANTY OWNER: NuTone warrants to the original consumer purchaser of its products that such products will be free from defects in materials or workmanship for a periodof one (1) year from the date of original purchase. THERE ARE NO OTHER WARRANTIES, EXPRESS OR IMPLIED, INCLUDING, BUT NOT LIMITED TO, IMPLIEDWARRANTIES OF MERCHANTABILITY OR FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE.During this one year period, NuTone will, at its option, repair or replace, without charge, any product or part which is found to be defective under normal use and service.THIS WARRANTY DOES NOT EXTEND TO FLUORESCENT LAMP STARTERS OR TUBES, FILTERS, DUCT, ROOF CAPS, WALL CAPS AND OTHER ACCESSORIESFOR DUCTING. This warranty does not cover (a) normal maintenance and service or (b) any products or parts which have been subject to misuse, negligence, accident,improper maintenance or repair (other than by NuTone), faulty installation or installation contrary to recommended installation instructions.The duration of any implied warranty is limited to the one year period as specified for the express warranty. Some states do not allow limitation on how long an implied warrantylasts, so the above limitation may not apply to you.NUTONE’S OBLIGATION TO REPAIR OR REPLACE, AT NUTONE’S OPTION, SHALL BE THE PURCHASER’S SOLE AND EXCLUSIVE REMEDY UNDER THISWARRANTY. NUTONE SHALL NOT BE LIABLE FOR INCIDENTAL, CONSEQUENTIAL OR SPECIAL DAMAGES ARISING OUT OF OR IN CONNECTION WITHPRODUCT USE OR PERFORMANCE. Some states do not allow the exclusion or limitation of incidental or consequential damages, so the above limitation or exclusion maynot apply to you. This warranty gives you specific legal rights, and you may also have other rights, which vary from state to state.
