Page: 27Service Guide OL830Chapter 2 Principles of Operation2.3.04 Fuser UnitThe Fuser Unit is controlled by a thermistor, a comparator, an LSI, and the CPU to keep the heatroller surface temperature within a predetermined range (about 150 degrees Celsius). A thermalfuse within the Fuser Unit prevents abnormal temperature rises in case the thermistor fails.NOTE:The CPU checks for an open circuit in the thermistor at POWER -ON, setting a fuser alarm if thiserror is detected. The CPU also sets a fuser alarm if the proper temperature is not attained within a specified periodof time after POWER-ON.Upon detecting a fuser alarm, the CPU will halt (after printing the current page.)Copyright 1997, Okidata, Division of OKI America, Inc.
