64 • TroubleshootingGeneral Problems/SolutionsProblem ____________________________________________My word processor files do not print the way I have the menu andfront panel set.Solution1. Check your software application and/or printer driver settings:these override the menu and front panel settings (see Noteabove).2. Before sending a file to the printer, many word processors sendeither an “initialization string” or an I-Prime signal to the printer. The initialization string contains codes that override the paneland menu settings. To change your printer to ignore the resetcode, enter the Menu Mode, go to the Set-Up group and changethe setting for Reset Inhibit to Yes.The I-Prime signal will automatically override any front panelsettings you have made. To eliminate this problem, enter theMenu Mode, go to the Parallel Interface group and change thesetting for I-Prime to Invalid. For more information on changing menu settings, see page 42.Problem ____________________________________________Nothing happens when I turn on the printer.Solution1.
