As with all electricalequipment, there are a few basic precautions you shouldtake to avoid hurting yourself or damaging the product.ï Carefully read the provided setup and operatinginstructions.ï Save all provided documentation for future reference.ï Read and follow all warning and instruction labels onthe product itself.ï Unplug the product before you clean it. Use only adamp cloth. Do not use liquid or aerosol cleaners.ï Place your product on a firm, solid surface. If you put iton something unsteady, it may fall and be damaged. Ifyou place it on a soft surface, such as a rug, sofa, orcushion, the vents may be blocked, causing theproduct to overheat.ï Protect your product from overheating. Make sure noobstructions block the openings of the product. Do notput the product on or near a heat source (such as aradiator or heat register). Keep the product out ofdirect sunlight. Allow enough room around the productfor adequate ventilation and easy access to the papertrays. If you put the product in any kind of enclosure,make sure the enclosure is properly ventilated.ï Do not use your product near water. Do not spill liquidof any kind into it.ï Be sure to use the 15A AC power cord supplied withthe product. Use of a power cord not supplied with thisproduct, or an extension cord, may result inoverheating. Do not use the power cord supplied withthe product with any other electrical device or for anyother purpose.ï Do not connect this product to an uninterruptiblepower supply (UPS). If you are not sure,check with your dealer or with your local powercompany.ï Your product has a grounded, three-prong plug as asafety feature. This plug only fits into a groundedoutlet. If the plug does not fit, the outlet may be anolder, non-grounded type. Contact an electrician tohave the outlet replaced. Do not use an adapter todefeat the grounding.ï Install the product near an easily accessed poweroutlet.ï Avoid damaging the power cord. Do not put anythingon it or place it where it will be walked on. If the cordbecomes damaged or frayed, replace it immediately.ï If you are using an extension cord or power strip withthe product, make sure that the total of the amperesrequired by all the equipment on the extension is lessthan the extensionís rating. The total ratings of allequipment plugged into the outlet should not exceed15 amperes.ï Do not poke anything into the ventilation slots of theproduct. You could get an electrical shock or causehazardous electrical arcing, which could cause a fire.ï Aside from the routine maintenance described in thedocumentation, do not try to service the productyourself. Removing the cover may expose you toshocks or other hazards.ï Do not make any adjustments other than thoseoutlined in the documentation. You may cause damagethat will require extensive repair work.
