Operation > 32OperationThis chapter provides a broad outline of how to operate your printer in the PCLemulation from either a Windows or a Macintosh environment.PRINTER SETTINGS IN WINDOWSThe operator panel controlled menus provide access to many options.The Windows printer driver also contains settings for many of these items. Where itemsin the printer driver are the same as those in the operator panel, and you printdocuments from Windows, the settings in the Windows printer driver will override thosesettings in the operator panel.P RINTING PREFERENCES IN W INDOWS APPLICATIONSWhen you choose to print your document from a Windows application program a Printdialog box appears. This dialog usually specifies the name of the printer on which youwill print your document. Next to the printer name is a Properties button.When you click Properties a new window opens which contains a short list of theprinter settings available in the driver, which you can choose for this document. Thesettings available from within your application are only those which you may want tochange for specific applications or documents. Settings you change here will usuallyonly last for as long as the particular application program is running.The tabs available are the Setup Tab, the Job Options Tab and the Image Tab.SETUP TAB1. Paper size should be the same as the page size of your document (unless youwish to scale the printout to fit another size), and should also be the same as thesize of paper you will feed into the printer.NoteThe illustrations in this guide relate to Windows XP PCL emulation –other operating system windows may appear slightly different but theprinciples are the same.
