Appendix C: Interfacing C ñ 5Place the printer in the circuit test mode by specifying Yes inresponse to the menu item DIAGNOSTIC TEST. Now you can runthe local test:1. Plug the test connector into the serial interface receptacle.2. Turn the printer ON. The serial interface will check the memoryfunction of the printerís message buffer, the interface driverand the receiver circuit, and then print all the characters in a testpattern.3. This test can be stopped either by turning the printer OFF or bypressing the SELECT button.4. This is what happens during the test:l The printer prints this message: RS-232C TESTl The message buffer size is printed.l The printer checks the memory function of the message buffer, then prints OK if the memory check is good, or BAD if thememory check is faulty.l The signal logic is checked, and if this is faulty, BAD is alsoprinted.Note: If BAD is printed, call your dealer for assistance.l Hexadecimal characters from 20 to 7F are transmitted throughthe RD (Receive Data) line, then written to the message buffer. The above stored data is then printed.l This process repeats until the printer is turned OFF or until youpress the SELECT button.
