When the focus is locked, a beep sounds, and the AFconfirmation mark and the AF target mark light up. This modeis suitable for taking pictures of still subjects or subjects withlimited movement.C-AF(continuous AF)The camera repeats focusing while the shutter button remainspressed halfway. When the subject is in focus, the AFconfirmation mark lights up on the monitor and the beep soundswhen the focus is locked at the first and second time. Even ifthe subject moves or you change the composition of the picture,the camera continues trying to focus.Four Thirds system lenses focus using [S-AF].•MF (manual focus)This function allows you to manuallyfocus on any subject. Near)Focus ringS-AF+MF(simultaneous use ofS-AF mode and MFmode)After pressing the shutter button halfway to focus in [S-AF]mode, you can turn the focus ring to fine-adjust focus manually.C-AF+TR(AF tracking)Press the shutter button halfway to focus; the camera thentracks and maintains focus on the current subject while theshutter button is held in this position.The AF target is displayed in red if the camera can no longertrack the subject. Release the shutter button and then framethe subject again and press the shutter button halfway.Four Thirds system lenses focus using [S-AF].••% TipsThe [Rls Priority S] (P. 83) and [Rls Priority C] (P. 83) options can be used to choosewhether the shutter can be released when the camera is unable to focus.[MF Assist] (P. 82) can be used to enable automatic zoom display when the lens focusring is rotated.[Focus Ring] (P. 82) allows you to change the rotational direction of the focus ring.# CautionsThe camera may be unable to focus if the subject is poorly lit, obscured by mist or smoke,or lacks contrast.••••
