46 ENGetting to know your camera betterThere are several ways to focus, depending on the subject.When the subject is not in the center of the frame• Place the subject in the center of the frame, lock the focus on the subject, and thenrecompose your picture.g “Shutter button Shooting pictures” (P. 10)The subject is moving quickly• Focus the camera on a point roughly the same distance away as the subject youwant to shoot and lock the focus (by pressing the shutter button halfway). Thenrecompose your picture and press the shutter button completely as the subjectenters the frame.• Select j from f to shoot pictures.g “f Shoot pictures by selecting a scene mode according to the situation” (P. 12)• Under certain types of conditions, it is difficult to focus using auto focus. The greenlamp on the monitor lights, allowing you to check if the focus is locked.In these cases, focus (focus lock) on an object with high contrast at the samedistance as the intended subject, recompose your shot and then take the picture.If the subject has no vertical lines, hold the camera vertically and focus the camerausing the focus lock function by pressing the shutter button halfway, and thenreturn the camera to the horizontal position while keeping the button pressedhalfway and take the picture.Be sure to hold the camera firmly with both hands and press the shutter button slowlyso as to avoid moving the camera.
