66 ENBefore Use:Check the camera for foreign materialincluding dirt, dust or sand.Be sure to close the battery/card compartmentcover and connector cover fi rmly so that eachlock makes clicking sound.Do not open the battery/card compartmentcover and connector cover with wet hands,while under water, or in a damp or dustyenvironment (e.g. beach).After Use:Be sure to wipe off any excess water or debrisafter using the camera under water.After the camera is used under seawater,immerse the camera in a bucket containingfresh water for about 10 minutes (withthe battery/card compartment cover andconnector cover firmly closed). After that,dry the camera in the shade with goodventilation.Water drops may be observed on the innersurface of the battery/card compartmentcover or connector cover after you openeach cover. If any water drops are found,be sure to wipe them off before using thecamera.Notes after useForeign materials may be attached to theperiphery of the lens cover from using thecamera in conditions with foreign materialssuch as dirt, dust or sand, or when the lenscover is not moving smoothly. If you continueto use the camera in such conditions, the lenscould become damaged or the lens covercould stick causing additional damage to thecamera. To avoid such damage, wash thecamera using the following method.1 Insert the battery and close the battery/card compartment cover and connectorcover fi rmly so that each lock makes theclicking sound.2 Fill a bucket with fresh water, immersethe camera in the bucket with the lenssurface downward and shake the camerathoroughly.3 Press the n button several times inthe water and close/open the lens coverrepeatedly.4 Furthermore, shake the camera furtherwith the cover opened.•••••••Follow the Steps 1 to 4, then check if thelens cover moves smoothly.If the lens cover does not move smoothly,rinse the lens face by placing it directly undera strong stream of tap water and pressing then button repeatedly.Storage and MaintenanceDo not leave the camera in an environment athigh temperature (40°C (104°F) or more) or atlow temperature (-10°C (14°F) or less). Failureto do so may break down water resistance.Do not use chemicals for cleaning, rustprevention, anti-fogging, repairing, etc. Failureto do so may break down water resistance.Do not leave the camera in water for a longtime.
