Itsability to generate power is based upon the chemicalreaction that takes place inside it. This reaction issusceptible to the surrounding temperature andhumidity, and, if the temperature is too high or too low,the operating time of the Battery becomes shorter. Ifthe Battery is used in an extremely cold environment, the Battery may operate only for about 5 minutes. Ifthe Battery becomes extremely hot, a protectivefunction may operate, and the Battery may becomeunusable for a while.Be Sure to Detach the Battery after UseBe sure to detach the Battery from the CameraRecorder. (If it is left attached to the CameraRecorder, a minute amount of current is consumedeven when the Camera Recorder power is off.) If theBattery is left attached to the Camera Recorder for along time, over discharge takes place. The Batterymay become unusable after it is charged.Disposing of an Unusable BatteryOThe Battery has a limited life.ODo not throw the Battery into fire because it maycause an explosion.Always Keep the Terminals of the Battery CleanPrevent the terminals from getting clogged with dirt, dust, or other substances. If you drop the Battery accidentally, check to see if theBattery body and terminals are deformed.Attaching a deformed Battery to the Camera Recorderor AC Adapter may damage the Camera Recorder orAC Adapter.$ Cautions for StorageBefore storing the Camera Recorder, take theCassette out and detach the Battery.Store all the components in a dry place with arelatively stable temperature.(Recommended Temperature: 15 to 25°C,Recommended Humidity: 40 to 60%)Camera RecorderOWrap it with a soft cloth to prevent dust from gettinginto the Camera.ODo not leave the Camera Recorder in places thatexpose it to high temperature.BatteryOExtremely high temperatures or low temperatureswill shorten the life of the Battery.OIf the Battery is kept in smoky or dusty places, theterminal may rust and cause malfunctions.ODo not allow the Battery terminals to come incontact with metal objects (such as necklaces, hairpins, etc.). This can result in a short circuitor heat generation and, if you touch the Batteryin this condition, you may be badly burned.OStore the Battery in a completely discharged state. To store the Battery for a long period of time, werecommend you charge it once every year andstore it again after you completely use up thecharged capacity.CassetteOBefore storing it, rewind the tape to the beginning. Ifthe Cassette is left for more than 6 months with thetape stopped midway, the tape sags (although itdepends on the storage condition). Be sure torewind to the beginning.OStore the Cassette in its case. Dust, direct sunlight(ultraviolet rays), or humidity may damage the tape.Dust contains hard mineral particles, and dustyCassettes damage the heads of the CameraRecorder and other components. Develop a habit ofreturning the Cassette back to its case.OOnce every half year, wind the tape to the end andthen rewind it to the beginning. If the Cassette is leftfor 1 year or longer without winding or rewinding, temperature and humidity changes may cause theCassette to deform due to swelling, shrinking, andso forth. The wound tape may stick to itself.ODo not place a Cassette near highly magneticsubstances or equipment.OThe surface of tape is covered with extremelyminute magnetic particles, upon which signals arerecorded. Magnetic necklaces, toys, etc., havemagnetic force that is stronger than you maynormally expect, and they may erase the contentsof a recording or may cause noise in images andsounds.
