The gain mode switchesbetween normal and high with each press ofthe button.Gain can be set to up to 34 dB in high gainmode.In PHOTO mode, switching to high gainmode is disabled.Set the direction of the IRIS DIAL and aperturecontrol in the setup menus, SW&DISP SETUPscreen, IRIS DIAL.The lens aperture can be adjusted in the focusring by setting the RING switch to IRIS. Therelationship between the direction of rotationand aperture control is based on the IRISDIAL setting in the SW&DISP SETUP screen.However, as this will make it impossible to adjustthe focus in the focus ring, please set the focuscontrol method to A (AUTO) with the FOCUSswitch. Zoom control can also be assigned to theFOCUS ring.(Page 40)As you shrink the aperture to a near closed state,resolution will decrease due to light diffraction.You can prevent this by adjusting the shutterspeed and increasing the aperture size.••••••Using focus assistPressing the FOCUS ASSIST button enlargesthe center of the viewfinder and LCD monitorscreens, or displays a bar at the bottom center ofthe screen. These displays make aligning the focuseasier and are particularly useful in manual focusmode. The display that appears when the FOCUSASSIST button is pressed can be configured withthe FOCUS ASSIST SW item in the setting menuSW&DISP SETUP screen. (Page 106)FOCUS ASSIST buttonEXPANDED:The central part of the screen will be enlarged bya factor of about 4 in the vertical direction and by afactor of about 6 in the horizontal direction.A blue box will appear in the viewfinder and LCDmonitor screens during expanded display.
