If reinstallation is carried out. all data existing prior to the installation will be lost. The reinstal-lation will return the computer to the conditions at time of purchase.• Before the reinstallation procedure, remove all peripherals (except for the CD and floppy disk drive).• Be sure the AC adaptor is connected until the reinstallation procedure is completed.• When using the Panasonic KXL-RWIOA CD drive, set the switch of the PC Card to 16-bit.Reinstalling• If data on your hard disk is compressed, the datashould be uncompressed.• Do not cancel during reinstalling.• For users intending to change the partitioning of thehard disk:• When reinstalling Windows in the first partition,be sure to create several partitions in advance.If several partitions have not been created, all diskspace, including space that has not been parti-tioned, will be allocated to the C drive (the same .condition at the time of purchase).• Do not use the FDISK program that comes as a .standard with Windows 95, Windows 98, and Win-dows 98 Second Edition, as this has been shown ,to result in an error in the partitioning settings.The following FDISK programs will enable tlie cor-rect settings:- FDISK program that comes as a standard withWindows Me- Windows 98 and Windows 98 Second EditionFDISK programs for hard disks that is largerthan 64 GB in size** A patch for correcting the bug in the standardFDISK program has been made available as afree download. For details, please refer to theMicrosoft Web Site._ _ .... y1 Turn off the computer.2 Connect the CD drive to the computer.If you are using a USB CD drive, connect it to the USBport on the left side of the computer. when using the CD drive Panasonic KXL-RW10A>Connect the floppy disk drive to the USB port of the com-puter, then set the FIRSTAID FD in the floppy disk drive.3 Turn the computer on.4 When the message [Press F2 to enter SETUP] is displayed,press C F2 ] and then run the Setup Utility.If the password has been set, enter the supervisor pass-word.5 Write down all of the contents of the Setup Utility and thenpress ( F9 1At the co nfirmation message, select [Yes] and press(Enter] . when using the CD drive Panasonic KXL-R\V21A>Select [Boot] menu, then .select [USB CD Drive] and press[ F6 ] until [USB CD Drive) is at die top of the [Boot] menu.6 Set the Produ ct Recovery CD-ROM 1 in the CD drive.7 Press CHS)At the co nfirmation message, select [Yes] and press( Enter ^ .
