- 13 -(1) LED lightBefore the use of LEDlight, always pull the powerswitch once.Press the LED lightbutton.The light illuminates withvery low current, and itdoes not adversely affectthe performance of the toolduring use or its batterycapacity.CAUTION:• The built-in LED light is designedto illuminate the small work areatemporarily.• Do not use it as a substitute for aregular flashlight, since it does nothave enough brightness.• LED light turns off when the toolhas not been used for 5 minutes.Caution: DO NOT STARE INTO BEAM.Use of controls or adjustments orperformance of procedures other thanthose specified herein may result inhazardous radiation exposure.(2) Overheat warning lampOff(normaloperation)Flashing:OverheatIndicates operation hasbeen halted due to batteryoverheating.To protect the motor or battery, be sureto note the following when carrying outthis operation.• If the motor or battery becomeshot, the protection function will beactivated and the motor or battery willstop operating. The overheat warninglamp on the control panel illuminatesor flashes when this feature is active.• If the overheating protection featureactivates, allow the tool to coolthoroughly (at least 30 minutes).The tool is ready for use when theoverheat warning lamp goes out.• Avoid using the tool in a way that cau-ses the overheating protection featureto activate repeatedly.• If the tool is operated continuouslyunder high-load conditions or if it isused in hot-temperature conditions(such as during summer), theoverheating protection feature mayactivate frequently.• If the tool is used in cold-temperatureconditions (such as during winter) orif it is frequently stopped during use,the overheating protection featuremay not activate.• The performance of the EY9L42deteriorates significantly at and below10°C due to work conditions andother factors.• The ambient temperature rangeis between 0°C (32°F) and 40°C(104°F). If the battery pack is usedwhen the battery temperature isbelow 0°C (32°F), the tool may fail tofunction properly.• When charging a cool battery pack(below 0°C (32°F)) in a warm place,leave the battery pack at the placeand wait for more than one hour towarm up the battery to the level of theambient temperature.(3) Battery low warning lampOff(normaloperation)Flashing(No charge)Battery protectionfeature activeExcessive (complete) discharging oflithium ion batteries shortens theirservice life dramatically. The driverincludes a battery protection featuredesigned to prevent excessivedischarging of the battery pack.• The battery protection featureactivates immediately before thebattery loses its charge, causing thebattery low warning lamp to flash.• If you notice the battery low warninglamp flashing, charge the batterypack immediately.
