10VQT1N87Before using1 Handling of HDD(Hard disk drive)The unit is equipped with the built-in 60 GB* HDD. While the HDD is capable of storing a large amountof data, there are a few things to look out for. When using this component, pay attention to the followingpoints.* The usable HDD space is generally calculated as 1 GB=1,000,000,000 bytes. The capacities of thisunit, PCs and software are expressed as 1 GB=1,024k1,024k1,024=1,073,741,824 bytes. Therefore, the indicated value of the capacity appears to be smaller.∫ Do not expose the HDD tovibrations and shocks.Due to the environment and handling conditions, the HDD may be subject to partial damages ormay not be able to read, record, and play backdata. Do not expose the unit to vibrations orshock, and do not turn off the power duringrecording or playback. If the unit is used in a place with loud sounds, such as a club or venue, the recording may stopdue to sound vibrations. Recording data on anSD card is recommended in these places.∫ Back up data periodically. The HDD is temporary storage. In order to avoiderasing data due to static electricity, electromagnetic waves, breakage, and failures, back up the data to a PC or DVD disc. (l 86, 96)∫ If the HDD experiences anyabnormality, back up dataimmediately.Failure in the HDD may produce continuousnoise or choppy sound during recording orplaying back. Continuous use will cause furtherdeterioration, and may eventually disable theHDD. If these phenomena are observed, copythe data on the HDD to a PC, a DVD disc etc.immediately and contact your dealer.Once the HDD is out of order, data cannot berestored.∫ Operation may stop in hot or coldenvironments. If the surrounding temperature is too hot or toocold, the unit is disabled in order to protect theHDD.∫ Do not use the unit in lowatmospheric pressures. The HDD may fail if it is used at altitudes of3000 m or higher above sea level.∫ TransportationWhen the unit is transported, turn off the powerand be careful not to shake, fall, or impact theunit.∫ Falling detection[ ] is indicated on the screen when it detects afalling state (a weightless state). In that case,HDD operation noise may be recorded. If thefalling state is detected repeatedly, the unit maystop the recording or playback operation in orderto protect the HDD.∫ HDD access lamp [ACCESS HDD] A≥ The lamp illuminates while the HDD is beingaccessed (initialization, recording, playback, deleting etc.).≥ Do not perform the following operations whenthe lamp illuminates. It may damage the HDDor cause a malfunction in the unit.jOperate the mode dialjTurn the unit offjInsert and remove the USB cablejExpose the unit to vibrations or shockIndemnity about recorded contentPanasonic does not accept any responsibilityfor damages directly or indirectly due to anytype of problems that result in loss of recordingor edited content, and does not guarantee anycontent if recording or editing does not workproperly. Likewise, the above also applies in acase where any type of repair is made to theunit (including any other non-HDD relatedcomponent).
