7MODULE INSTALLATION Install modules where they are notshaded by obstacles like buildings ortrees. Especially pay attention toavoid partially shading the modulesby objects during the daytime. If apart of the PV module is alwaysshaded, hot spot may occur and thePV module may break down. Water stains might be caused whenrain water remains on the glasssurface for a long time. To avoidwater stains, Panasonic recom-mends to install modules at a slopesteeper than the water gradient. Modules should be firmly fixed inplace in a manner suitable to with-stand all expected loads, includingwind and snow loads. The modules should be mountedbasically at the four (4) quarterpoints by the means shown in Figure1, and based on installation meth-ods shown in Figure 5. Metals used in locations that areexposed to moisture shall not beemployed alone or in combinationsthat could result in deterioration orcorrosion. Clearance of 100mm between theroof surface and module frame isrequired to allow cooling air to cir-culate around the back of the mod-ule. This also allows any condensa-tion or moisture to dissipate. Installmodules so that air can circulatebetween the roof and the module. Do not contact a tip of a mountingbolt to the back sheet of the mod-ule when fixing the module to themounting structure rail. Appropriate material should beused for mounting hardware (themodule frame, mounting structure, and hardware) to prevent itselffrom corrosion.
