STC conditions are;Irradiance of 1000W/m2, 25°C celltemperature, and solar spectralirradiance per IEC 60904-3. Note: Atthe time of shipment, Panasonicguarantees the output level of itsmodules to be -0/+10% againstRated Power in SPECIFICATIONSbased on factory inspection at STCconditions.2) Under real conditions, a photovoltaicmodule may experience conditionsthat produce more current and/orvoltage than reported at StandardTest Conditions. Therefore, the Iscvalue of modules should bemultiplied by a factor of 1.25 todetermine ampacity. An additionalfactor of 1.25 may be required forsizing conductors, fuses, disconnects, etc. Please refer to section 690.8 ofthe National Electric Code (NEC) forguidelines. The Voc must be factoredaccording to the lowest recordedoperating temperature recorded forthe location where the modules willbe installed. Please refer to section690.7 of the NEC for moreinformation regarding voltagetemperature factors.3) The current output for the modulesshown in the SPECIFICATIONSsection is measured at Standard TestConditions. These conditions maynot be frequently observed in actualpractice.Mechanical Loading The modules should be mounted atthe four (4) quarter points by themeans shown in Figure 2. This method offers a maximum loadshown as “Mount Location and LoadResistance” in Figure 2 in a staticstate on the module surface. Note: This mechanical loading valuewas tested using the mountingdevice specified in section “Notes onInstallation”. As UL Certified Load Ratings, thismodule meets design loads as below.1) Positive load with Long framemounting 33 psf(1600Pa)0-450mm range from edge 75 psf (3600Pa)230-380mm range from edge2) Negative load with Long framemounting 33 psf(1600Pa)0-450mm range from edge 61 psf(2933Pa)230-380mm range from edge 75 psf(3600Pa)230-345mm range from edge3) Positive load with Short framemounting 33 psf(1600Pa)0-250mm range from edge4) Negative load with Short framemounting 33 psf(1600Pa)0-250mm range from edgeUNPACKING AND HANDLING Do not hit the back sheet of amodule by the connector whenunpacking and handling. To avoid the damage of the backsheet by connector, fix the cablesto the frame with tape afterunpacking. (see below) After fixing the cable to the frame,do not stack modules to avoid thedamage of the cable. Do not handle modules by theircables or junction box. Handle themby the frame with both hands in anysituation.WIRINGGeneral All wiring should be done inaccordance with applicable electricalcodes. Wiring methods should be inaccordance with the NEC in USA orCEC in Canada. A qualified, licensed professionalshould do all wiring. Wiring should be protected to helpensure personal safety and toprevent damage. All modules connected in seriesshould be of the same modelnumber and/or type. Do not connect modules in parallelwithout using connection devicesthat connect to appropriate FUSEfor each series string or each module. Do not disconnect terminals whilemodules generate electricity andconnect electrical load to avoid thehazard of electrical shock. To avoid the hazard of electric shockand sparks, please connect eachcable after confirming the polarity ofthem is correct. Cable conduits should be used inlocations where the wiring isinaccessible to children or smallanimals.Module Wiring The number of modules that can bewired in series is recommended to beseven (7) or fewer. If connectingeight (8) modules in series, checklocal temperature conditions andfollow the National Electric Code(690.7) to ensure compliance withmaximum voltage limitations. Modules are not designed for “off-grid” or battery charging systems, because of their operating voltage. Therefore, it is not recommended touse them for “off-grid” or chargingbatteries without usingMPPT(Maximum Power PointTracking) controller. These modules contain factoryinstalled bypass diodes. If thesemodules are incorrectly connected toeach other, the bypass diodes, cable,or junction box may be damaged. The PV module comes pre-wired.Each module has two #12 AWG typePV-wire stranded sunlight resistantoutput cables each terminated withconnectors. The positive (+) terminalhas a male connector while thenegative (-) terminal has a femaleconnector. The module wiring issolely for series connections only, i.e.male (+) to female (-)interconnections. When making fieldwiring connections to the pre-attached connectors use onlyapproved connectors from Table.1.
