Answering System Features46Remote operationUsing a touch tone phone, you can callyour phone number from outside andaccess the unit to listen to messages. Theunit’s voice guidance will prompt you topress certain dial keys to perform differentoperations.Important:L In order to operate the answeringsystem remotely, you must first set aremote code (page 47). This code mustbe entered each time you operate theanswering system remotely.Using the answering systemremotely1 Dial your phone number from a touchtone phone.L If the ring count is set to “Tollsaver” (page 47), the number ofrings you hear will indicate whether ornot you have new messages.2 After the greeting message starts, enteryour remote code.L The unit will announce the number ofnew messages, and will play back thenew messages.3 After 3 seconds, the voice guidance willstart. Follow the voice guidance asnecessary.4 Enter remote commands as directed bythe voice guidance.5 When finished, hang up.Note:L When you press a key, press firmly.L You can hang up at any time.L You can ignore the voice guidance andcontrol the unit using remotecommands.Voice guidanceDuring remote operation, the unit’s voiceguidance will prompt you to press {1} toperform a specific operation, or press {2}to listen to more available operations.Operations are presented by voiceguidance in the following order:– Play back all messages– Play back new messages– Record a message– Erase all messagesNote:L If you do not press any dial keys within10 seconds after a voice guidanceprompt, the unit will announce, “Thankyou for your call” then disconnect yourcall.L If less than 3 minutes of recording time isavailable, the unit will announce theremaining recording time after the lastmessage is played back.L If the unit announces “Memory full”,erase unnecessary message.Remote commandsYou can press dial keys to access certainanswering system functions withoutwaiting for the voice guidance to promptyou.Key Remote command{1} Repeat message (duringplayback) *1{2} Skip message (duringplayback){4} Play new messages{5} Play all messages{9} Stop*2{0} Turn answering system off{*}{4} Erase this message (duringplayback){*}{5} Erase all messagesTG2433BX_2434BX(e).book Page 46 Thursday, March 31, 2005 10:57 AM
