Making/Answering Calls23Useful features during acallHOLD buttonThis feature allows you to put an outsidecall on hold.Press {HOLD} during an outside call.L “Hold” and the line number will bedisplayed, and k or l will flash.L To return to the call, press {Line1} or{Line2}.Note:L If another phone is connected on thesame line (page 9), you can also takethe call by lifting its handset.L If a call is kept on hold for more than 6minutes, an alarm tone will start tosound and the ringer indicator will flashrapidly. After 4 additional minutes onhold, the call will be disconnected.Mute buttonYou can mute your voice during aconversation. While mute is turned on youwill be able to hear the other party, but theother party will not be able to hear you.To mute your voice, press {Mute}.L “Mute” will flash on the display.L To return to the conversation, press{Mute}, {C}, or {s}.Voice enhancerThis feature clarifies the voice of theperson you are talking to, reproducing amore natural-sounding voice that is easierto hear and understand.1 Press {(VE)} during an outside call.2 To turn this feature on or off, press{(VE)}.L If {(VE)} is not displayed, you canalso turn this feature on or off byperforming one of the following:Press {MENU}, then press {3}.ORPress {MENU} and {V} or {^} toselect “V.E. on” or “V.E. off”,then press {Select}.L When turned on, J will bedisplayed.Note:L Once you turn voice enhancer on, it willbe activated for all outside calls untilturned off.L You can also turn this feature on or off byprogramming (page 38).L Depending on the condition and qualityof your telephone line, this feature mayemphasize existing line noise.
