43Advanced Operation•If “Voicemail” and “ ” still remain on the display and the VOICE MAILindicator on the base unit still flashes even if you have listened to your voice mailmessage(s), press (FUNCTION/EXIT/CH), and press and hold (CLEAR) until theunit beeps. “Voicemail” and “ ” will disappear and the indicator will go off.•If your voice mail service uses a voice mail tone and the recorded message isover 3 minutes long, “Voicemail” and “ ” may not be displayed and theVOICE MAIL indicator may not flash.•If your voice mail service uses a voice mail tone, the tone will be heard from anyparallel connected phone. If you use another phone to retrieve messages, youhave to dial your access number manually.Listening to Voice Mail MessagesAfter receiving a voice mail message, “Voicemail” and “ ” will bedisplayed and the VOICE MAIL indicator on the base unit will flash.You can listen to your voice mail message(s), follow the steps below.1 Press (FLASH/CALL!WAIT/VOICE!MAIL), and press (TALK).•The unit is connected to the telephone line and dials the access number (p. 41).2 Follow the pre-recorded instructions.3 When finished, press (TALK).Special FeaturesAutomatic Security Code SettingEach time you place the handset on the base unit, the unit automaticallyselects one of more than a million security codes. These codes helpprevent the unauthorized use of your telephone line by another cordlesstelephone user.Handset LocatorYou can locate the handset or page the handset user with beep tonesfrom the base unit.1 Press (HANDSET!LOCATOR).•The IN USE/CHARGE indicator flashes. The handset beeps for 1 minuteand “Paging” is displayed.2 To stop paging, press (HANDSET!LOCATOR) again or press (TALK)twice on the handset.
