After you subscribe to thisservice, the telephone service provider’sVoice Mail system will answer calls for youwhen you are unavailable to answer thephone or when your line is busy.Messages are recorded by the telephoneservice provider, not your telephone.Important:L To use the Voice Mail service providedby your telephone service providerrather than the unit’s answering system,turn off the answering system (page 52).Voice Mail message indicationThe unit lets you know that you have newVoice Mail messages in the followingways:– “New Voice Mail” is displayed on thehandset.– The message indicator on the handsetslowly flashes blue if the message alertfeature is turned on (page 59).In order to listen to your Voice Mailmessages, you must dial your telephoneservice provider’s Voice Mail accessnumber.Note:L If the handset still indicates there arenew messages even after you havelistened to all new messages, turn it offby pressing and holding {OFF} on thehandset until the handset beeps.L If your Voice Mail service uses VoiceMail tones and the message is over 3minutes long, the handset may notindicate new messages.Voice Mail (VM) tone detectionYour telephone service provider sendsspecial signals (sometimes called “VoiceMail tones” or “stutter tones”) to the unit tolet you know you have new Voice Mailmessages. If you hear a series of dialtones followed by a continuous dial toneafter you press {C} or {SP-PHONE}, youhave new Voice Mail messages.
