80Remote Operation from a Touch Tone PhoneWhile outside, you can operate the Answering Systemfrom any touch tone phone. A synthesized voice menuwill guide you through the Answering System (p. 82).• To skip the voice menu and operate the unit directly,see page 83.Summary of remote operation• The unit will announce the remaining recording time after playback if it is less than10 minutes.• The messages are saved.• If the unit announces “No new messages”, there are only old messages. If “Nomessages” is announced, there are no messages.• If 65 or more new messages have been recorded, the unit will not announce thenumber of new messages during playback.* After selecting the line(s), messages for the line(s) will be played. Memomessages will not be played.Call your unit from a touch tone phone.Enter the remote code (p. 81)during or after the greeting.• The unit will announce the numberof new messages (callermessages for the line(s) for whichthe Answering System is turnedon, plus memo messages). Thenew messages will be played.To listen to messages for thedesired line(s):Enter the remote code, then press[#][1] (LINE 1), [#][2] (LINE 2) or[#][0] (LINE 1 and LINE 2).*• The unit will announce the numberof new messages for the line(s). Thenew messages will be played.After 3 seconds, the voice menu will start (p. 82).Follow the menu or enter direct commands (p. 83).To end remote operation, hang up.To listen to messages for the desired line(s), press [#][1] (LINE 1), [#][2](LINE 2) or [#][0] (LINE 1 and LINE 2).*
