j Caller ID Service28Using Caller ID serviceImportant:L This unit is Caller ID compatible. Touse Caller ID features (such asdisplaying caller phone numbers), youmust subscribe to Caller ID service.Consult your serviceprovider/telephone company fordetails.Caller ID featuresWhen an outside call is received, thecaller’s phone number will be displayed.L Phone numbers of the last 50 callerswill be logged in the caller list.L While listening to a message recordedby the answering system using thehandset, you can call back the callerwithout having to dial the phonenumber (KX-TG8220; page 37).L When caller information is receivedand it matches a phone numberstored in the unit’s phonebook:– The stored name will be displayedand logged in the caller list.– The handset will use the displaycolour and ringtone assigned to thecaller’s category.L If the unit is connected to a PBXsystem, you may not receive the callerinformation.L When the caller dialled from an areawhich does not provide Caller IDservice, “Out of Area” will bedisplayed.L When the caller requested not to sendcaller information, either noinformation or “Private Caller”will be displayed.Missed callsIf a call is not answered, the unit treatsthe call as a missed call. y and thenumber of missed calls are shown on thedisplay. This lets you know if you shouldview the caller list to see who calledwhile you were out.Category features for handsetphonebookCategories can help you identify who iscalling by using different ringtones anddisplay colours for different categories ofcallers. When adding an entry to thehandset phonebook you can assign it tothe desired category (page 18). When acall is received from a caller assigned toa category, the category’s display colourand ringtone you selected are used.Changing category ringtonesIf you select “Ext. Ringtone”, theunit will use the external ringtone you seton page 21 when calls from this categoryare received. The default setting is“Ext.
