If the batterieslisted above are used, leakages can resultand the following malfunctions can occur;– Remaining battery power may not bedisplayed accurately.– The camera may not be turned on.– Data written to the built-in memory orthe card can be damaged resulting inthe loss of photos.∫ Shapes of batteries that cannot beused• Batteries with unusual shapes causeleakage, generation of heat or explosion ifthey are inserted in the camera.• Some commercial batteries have partiallyor entirely peeled outer coverings. Neveruse these batteries. (Refer to theillustration below.)∫ Battery indicationThe remaining battery power appears onthe screen. [It does not appear when youuse the camera along with the AC adaptor(DMW-AC2; optional).]• The battery indication turns red andblinks. (If the LCD monitor is turned off,the status indicator blinks.)• Replace with new batteries or fullycharged Ni-MH batteries.∫ Proper Care and Handling of theBatteriesIf you mishandle the batteries, leakage,generation of heat and fire or explosionmay occur. Observe the following cautions;• Do not subject the batteries or the batterycontacts to any moisture.• Do not peel off or scratch the coveredseal.• Do not drop, hit or do anything that causesimpact to the batteries.• Do not use batteries that show signs ofleakage, deformation, discolouration orother defects.• Do not store batteries in high humidity orhigh temperature environments.• Keep batteries away from children.• When you replace batteries, always usetwo of the same type.• If you will not be using the camera for along time, remove the batteries.• Batteries may become warm soon afteryou use the camera.
