The volume can be adjusted by pressing the VOL (+/-) buttons on the remote control unit.Adjusting the volumeRemote control unit If the “+” button is pressed, the volume will increase,and if the “-” button is pressed, the volume willdecrease.NOTE:If these buttons are pressed while the on-screen displayfor another function is currently on the screen, thevolume will still be adjusted but the current volumesetting and the volume bar display will not appear.The volume can also be adjusted from an on-screendisplay menu. Refer to page 24 for details on how to dothis.The volume output level will remain displayed on thescreen for approximately three seconds.Turning off the soundIf the MUTE button on the remote control unit is pressed, “MUTE” will be displayed on the screen as shown in theillustration below and the sound will be muted. If the MUTE button is pressed once more, the on-screen display willbe cleared and the normal sound volume will be restored. The volume output level will remain displayed on thescreen for approximately three seconds.Remote control unit NOTE:If the MUTE button is pressed while the on-screen displayfor another function is currently on the screen, the volumewill still be muted but the “MUTE” on-screen display will notappear.If the power supply is turned off or either of the VOL (+/-)buttons is pressed, the mute setting will be canceled.It is also possible to have the picture turn off together withthe sound when the MUTE button is pressed. Refer to page32 for details on how to change this setting.When the picture has been turned off in this way, the words“PICTURE MUTE” will be displayed on the screen.Resetting adjustment values to the factory pre-settings (standard values)If the STD (Standard) button on the remote control unit is pressed while the PICTURE screen, POSITION screen,AUDIO screen or one of the individual adjustment screens is being displayed, the adjustment settings beingdisplayed will be reset to the factory pre-settings.Remote control unit If the STD (Standard) button on the remote control unit ispressed while the PICTURE screen, POSITION screen orAUDIO screen is being displayed, the letters “STD” will bedisplayed in yellow in the top-right corner of the screen andall items displayed will be reset to the factory pre-settings.NOTE:However, the “TV-SYSTEM” and “SIGNAL MODE” settingsin the PICTURE screen and the “VOLUME” setting in theAUDIO screen will not return to the factory pre-settings.If the STD (Standard) button on the remote control unit ispressed while one of the individual adjustment screens isbeing displayed, the value and the bar display will beappeared in yellow and only the item displayed will be resetto the factory pre-setting.21
