33Adjusting the Zoom/FocusChanging the display languageZOOM“ZOOM” is used to adjust projected picture size.button: Increases picture size.button: Reduces picture size.When the picture size reaches the upper or lowerlimits, the color of the arrows on the four corners willchange from light blue to red.FOCUS“FOCUS” is used to adjust picture focus with theor buttons.1. Highlight the desired language with theor buttons (on the projector orremote control).2. Press the “ENTER” button to enter yourselection.Menus, setting items, adjustment screens, and controlbutton names will be displayed in the language theuser chooses.ASPECTAspect ratio is adjustable only for composite video,S-video, or YPB PR signals complying with the NTSC(480i or 480p) or PAL (625i) standards.[AUTO]: (S-video only)If an S1 video signal is applied to the S-VIDEOport, the picture is automatically switched tothe 16:9 aspect ratio.[16:9]: The image is vertically compressed into a 16:9ratio.[4:3]: The aspect ratio inherent to the input video signalis left intact when projected onto the screen.[S4:3]: Picture size is compressed to 75% of theoriginal picture size when projected. (Thismode is useful when viewing pictures with thestandard 4:3 aspect ratio on a wide screenwith the 16:9 aspect ratio.)What Is S1 Video?• The S1 video is the wide-aspect-ready S-video formatcontaining an aspect sense signal for squeezed videos fedfrom video equipment.• If “AUTO” is chosen, the projector automatically compressesthe squeezed input video into the 16:9 aspect ratio if it detectsthe aspect sense signal.STANDARDPressing the “ENTER” button resets parametervalues for all the menu items to the factory default,with a “STANDARD” indicator shown in the upper rightcorner of the menu.Caution• If you choose an aspect ratio that does not matchthe source video's aspect ratio, you will see a picturewith an aspect ratio not the same as that of theoriginal picture. Choose the appropriate aspect ratiocarefully to match that of the original picture.Note• If the picture size is compressed or enlarged byusing the 16:9 aspect ratio when the projector isused for profitable purpose or in the presence ofan audience (for example, in a coffee shop or ata hotel etc.), it may infringe the rights of thecopyright owner of the original picture.• If a picture with the standard (4:3) aspect ratio isprojected at a wide aspect ratio, parts of the picturemay run over the screen bounds or the overall picturemay be distorted.
