Power Sources – This video unit should beoperated only from the type of power sourceindicated on the marking label. Grounding or Polarization – This video unitmay be equipped with either a polarized2-wire AC (Alternating Current) line plug (aplug having one blade wider than the other)or 3-wire grounding type plug, a plug having athird (grounding) pin.The 2-wire polarized plug will fit into thepower outlet only one way. This is a safetyfeature. If you are unable to insert the plugfully into the outlet, try reversing the plug. Ifthe plug still fails to fit, contact your electricianto replace your obsolete outlet.Do not defeat the safety purpose of thepolarized plug.The 3-wire grounding type plug will fit into agrounding type power outlet. Power-Cord Protection – Power-supplycords should be routed so that they are notlikely to be walked on or pinched by itemsplaced upon or against them. Payingparticular attention to cords of plugs,convenience receptacles, and the point wherethey exit from the unit.13. Outdoor Antenna Grounding – If an outsideantenna or cable system is connected to thevideo unit, be sure the antenna or cablesystem is grounded so as to provide someprotection against voltage surges and built-upstatic charges. Part 1 of the CanadianElectrical Code, in USA Section 810 of theNational Electrical Code, provides informationwith respect to proper grounding of the mastand supporting structure, grounding of thelead-in wire to an antenna discharge unit, sizeof grounding conductors, location of antennadischarge unit, connection to groundingelectrodes, and requirements for thegrounding electrode.14. Lightning – For added protection of thisvideo unit receiver during a lightning storm, orwhen it is left unattended and unused for longperiods of time, unplug it from the wall outletand disconnect the antenna or cable system.This will prevent damage to the video unit dueto lightning and power-line surges.
