Time CodeTime Code signals are data that indicate timemeasured in hours, minutes, seconds, and frames(30 frames per second). If this data is included in arecording, an address is assigned to each image onthe tape.• The Time Code is automatically recorded as a partof the sub-code at each recording.• When a new (previously unrecorded) Cassette isinserted, the Time Code automatically starts fromzero. If a recorded Cassette is inserted, the TimeCode picks up from the point where the last scenewas recorded. (In this case, when the Cassetteis inserted, the zero display [0h00m00s00f] mayappear, but the Time Code starts from the previousvalue.)• The Time Code cannot be reset to zero.• Unless the Time Code is continuously recorded fromthe beginning of a tape, accurate editing may notbe possible. To ensure that the Time Code will berecorded with no breaks, we recommend the use ofthe Blank Search Function (p. 23) before recording anew scene.12Using the RESET button1 Undo Grip Belt end 1 and pull Lens CapCord 2 downward to loosen Grip Belt.2 Use projection 3 on the Lens Cap to pressthe [RESET] Button 4 .Explanation of Terms Digital Video SystemIn a digital video system, images and sounds areconverted into digital signals and recorded on atape. This complete digital recording is capable ofrecording and playback with minimal image and sounddeterioration. In addition, it automatically records data, such as TimeCode and Date/Time, as digital signals.Compatibility with S-VHS or VHS CassettesBecause this Camcorder employs a digital system forrecording image and sound data, it is not compatiblewith conventional S-VHS or VHS video equipment thatemploys an analog recording system. The size and shape of the Cassettes are alsodifferent.Compatibility with Output SignalsBecause AV signal output from the AV signal outputJack is analog (the same as conventional videosystems), this Camcorder can be connected withS-VHS or VHS video or a TV for playback. FocusAuto Focus AdjustmentThe Auto Focus System automatically moves forwardand backward the focusing lens inside the Camcorderto bring the subject into focus so that the subject canbe seen clearly. However, the Auto Focus System does not functionproperly for the following subjects or under thefollowing recording conditions.43
