Others46LSQT1284Cautions for Useª About condensationIf you turn the Camcorder on when condensationoccurs on the head or the tape, condensationindication [3] (yellow or red) is displayed on theviewfinder or the LCD monitor and the messages[3DEW DETECT] or [3EJECT TAPE] (onlywhen the tape is inserted) appear. If so, follow theprocedure below.1 Remove the tape if it is inserted.≥It takes about 20 seconds to open thecassette holder. This is not a malfunction.2 Leave the Camcorder with the cassettecover closed and the battery attached, tocool or warm it to the ambient temperature.≥The status indicator blinks for about1 minute and then the Camcorderautomatically turns off. Leave it for about1.5 to 2 hours.3 Turn the Camcorder on again, set it to theTape Recording/Playback Mode and thencheck if the condensation indicationdisappears.Especially in cold areas, moisture may be frozen. If so, it may take more time before thecondensation indication disappears.Watch for condensation even before thecondensation indication is displayed.≥If the indicator of the condensation does notdisplay on the LCD screen and/or EVF and younotice condensation on the lens or the mainunit, do not open the cassette cover otherwisecondensation may be formed on the heads orthe cassette tape.ª About dirty headsIf video heads (the parts that closely contactwith the tape) become dirty, normal recordingand playback are not properly performed.Clean the heads with the digital video headcleaner.≥Insert the head cleaner into the Camcorder, setit to the Tape Playback Mode, and play it backfor about 10 seconds. (If you do not stop theplayback, it automatically stops about15 seconds later.)≥We recommend cleaning the heads periodically. If the heads become dirty, “NEED HEADCLEANING” appears during recording. Duringplayback, moreover, the following symptomsappear.≥Mosaic-like noise appears partially or thesound is interrupted.≥Black or blue mosaic-like horizontal stripesappear.≥The whole screen becomes blue and there isno picture or sound. When normal playback cannot be performedeven after the head cleaningOne possible cause is that normal recordingcould not be performed because the heads weredirty at the time of recording. Clean the heads, and perform recording and playback again. Ifnormal playback can be performed, the heads areclean. Before an important recording, be sure toconduct a test recording to make sure that normalrecording can be performed.≥If the heads become dirty soon after cleaning, the problem may be the tape. If so, try anothercassette.≥During playback, the picture or sound may beinterrupted momentarily, but this is not amalfunction of the Camcorder. (One possiblecause is that the playback is interrupted by dirtor dust that momentarily adheres to the heads.)ª About the Camcorder≥When the Camcorder is used for a long time, the Camcorder body becomes warm, but this isnot a malfunction.Keep the Digital Video Camcorder as far awayas possible from electromagnetic equipment(such as microwave ovens, TVs, video gamesetc.).≥If you use the Digital Video Camcorder on top ofor near a TV, the pictures and sound on theDigital Video Camcorder may be disrupted byelectromagnetic wave radiation.≥Do not use the Digital Video Camcorder nearcell phones because doing so may result innoise adversely affecting the pictures andsound.≥Recorded data may be damaged, or picturesmay be distorted, by strong magnetic fieldscreated by speakers or large motors.≥Electromagnetic wave radiation generated bymicroprocessors may adversely affect theDigital Video Camcorder, disturbing the picturesand sound.≥If the Digital Video Camcorder is adverselyaffected by electromagnetic equipment andstops functioning properly, turn the Digital VideoCamcorder off and remove the battery ordisconnect AC adaptor.
