Please keep this manual for future referencePortable CD playerOperating InstructionsThe model number and serial number of thisproduct can be found on either the back orthe bottom of the unit.Please note them in the space providedbelow and keep for future reference.MODEL NUMBERSERIAL NUMBERPrecautionsBefore using this unit, be sure to read the applicableitems of the operating instructions and these safety sug-gestions carefully.Afterwards keep them handy for future reference. Takespecial care to follow the warnings indicated on the unititself as well as in the operating instructions.Safety1. Power Source—The unit should be connected topower supply only of the type described in the oper-ating instructions or as marked on the unit. Use onlythe AC adaptor or car adaptor described in the oper-ating instructions when recharging.2. Polarization—If the unit is equipped with a polarizedAC power plug (a plug having one blade wider thanthe other), that plug will fit into the AC outlet only oneway. This is a safety feature. If you are unable to in-sert the plug fully into the outlet, try reversing theplug. If the plug should still fail to fit, contact yourelectrician to replace your obsolete outlet. Do not de-feat the safety purpose of the polarized plug.3. Care of AC adaptor—Take care that the cord of theAC adaptor should be routed so that they are notlikely to be walked on or pinched by items placedupon or against them. Never take hold of the ACadaptor if your hand is wet, and always grasp theplug body when connecting or disconnecting it.4. Nonuse Periods—When not in use, be sure to dis-connect the AC adaptor from the AC power outlet.5. Batteries—If the set is not used for a long period oftime or is used only from an AC power source, re-move all the batteries to prevent potential damagedue to possible battery leakage. Do not mix batteries(old and new) or different types of batteries.Installation∫ Environment1. Water and Moisture—Do not use this unit nearwater—for example, near a bathtub, washbowl,swimming pool, or the like. Damp basements shouldalso be avoided.2. Condensation—Moisture may form on the lens inthe following conditions.2. ≥immediately after a heater has been turned on.2. ≥in a steamy or very humid room.2. ≥when the unit is suddenly moved from a cold envi-ronment to a warm one. If moisture forms insidethis unit, it may not operate properly. To correct thisproblem wait about one hour for the moisture toevaporate.3. Heat—Never use or place this unit near a heatsource. Do not leave it in an automobile exposed todirect sunlight for a long time with the doors and win-dows closed as this may deform the cabinet.∫ Placement1. Foreign Material—Care should be taken so that ob-jects do not fall into and liquids are not spilled intothe unit. Do not subject this unit to excessive smoke,dust, mechanical vibration, or shock.2. Magnetism—The unit should be situated away fromequipment or devices that generate strong magneticfields.3. Stacking—Do not place any objects, on top of theunit.Maintenance(See page 7 for details.)Clean the cabinet, panel and controls with a soft clothlightly moistened with mild detergent solution.Do not use any type of abrasive pad, scouring powderor solvent such as alcohol or benzine.Service1. Damage Requiring Service—The unit should beserviced by qualified service personnel when:1. (a) The AC adaptor is damaged; or1. (b) Objects have fallen or liquid has been spilledinto the unit; or1. (c) The unit has been exposed to rain; or1. (d) The unit does not appear to operate normally orexhibits a marked change in performance; or1. (e) The unit has been dropped, or the enclosuredamaged.2. Servicing—The user should not attempt to servicethe unit beyond that described in the operating in-structions.
