Make sure the date and timehave been set (page 21).Memory capacityThe total recording capacity (includingyour greeting message and callermessages) is:– about 15 minutes for KX-TG5631/KX-TG5632/KX-TG5633/KX-TG5634– about 21 minutes for KX-TG5651/KX-TG5652/KX-TG5653A maximum of 64 messages (including agreeting message) can be recorded.L If the message memory becomes full,the ANSWER ON indicator flashesrapidly (if the answering system isturned on). Erase unnecessarymessages (page 39).L If less than 3 minutes of recording timeare available, the unit announces theremaining recording time whenoperating the answering system. Eraseunnecessary messages (page 39).Turning the answering systemon/offPress {ANSWER ON} to turn on/off theanswering system.L When the answering system is turnedon, the ANSWER ON indicator lights.L When the answering system is turnedoff, the ANSWER ON indicator turns off.Screening callsWhile a caller is leaving a message, youcan listen to the call through the base unit’sspeaker. To adjust the speaker volume,press {>} or {<} repeatedly.You can answer the call by pressing {C}on the handset.Turning off the call screening featureWhen the base unit is not in use, press{GREETING CHECK}, then press {<}repeatedly until “0” is displayed.ORWhile screening, press {<} repeatedlyuntil “0” is displayed.Note:L If you adjust the speaker volume whilelistening to messages or talking on theintercom, the speaker volume for callscreening is turned on again.Recording your greetingmessageYou can record your own greetingmessage (max. 2 minutes) that is playedwhen the answering system answers acall.
