DescalingWhen to descale- Descale the SENSEO ® coffee machine as described below when theCALC CLEAN indicator goes on. The CALC CLEAN indicator goes onafter you have brewed approx. 1000 cups of SENSEO ® black coffee or250 cups of SENSEO ® coffee varieties with milk. You can also descalethe SENSEO ® coffee machine more often in the same way. You have todescale the machine at least every 3 months. The descaling proceduretakes approx. 40 minutes.Why to descaleScale builds up inside the machine during use. It is essential to descale theSENSEO ® coffee machine when the CALC CLEAN indicator goes on. Yourreasons to descale:- It prolongs the life of your SENSEO ® coffee machine- It ensures maximum cup volume- It ensures maximum coffee temperature- The machine produces less sound during brewing- It prevents malfunctioningIf the descaling procedure is not performed correctly, scale residues remainbehind in the machine. This causes scale to build up more quickly and maycause permanent and irreparable damage to the machine.use the correct descaling agentOnly citric acid-based descalers are suitable for descaling the SENSEO ®machine. This type of descaler descales the machine without damagingit. For the correct amount, see section ‘Descaling procedure’ below. Eachdescaling mixture can be used only once. After use, the descaling mixture isno longer active.Philips SENSEO ® has developed a special descaler (HD7012, HD7011,HD7006) for SENSEO ® machines. For more information about thisdescaler, visit our website www.philips.com.Never use a descaling agent based on mineral acids such as sulphuricacid, hydrochloric acid, sulphamic acid and acetic acid (e.g. vinegar). Thesedescaling agents will certainly damage your SENSEO ® coffee machine.Descaling procedureThe descaling procedure consists of 2 cycles:- a descaling cycle (approx. 35 minutes)- a rinsing cycle (approx. 5 minutes)You cannot descale the machine if the Calc-Clean tool is not placed inthe coffee spout.Descaling cycle1 Remove the milk container unit from the machine, insert theCalc-Clean tool into the coffee spout and push down the milkcontainer lever.EnglisH 23
