(Fig. 9)The machine is ready for use when the light in the on/off button lights upcontinuously.4 Place the 1-cup pod holder q with a used coffee pod in it in the coffeemachine. Close the lid and make sure it is properly locked.Note: Always put a used coffee pod in the pod holder when you descale the machine.Thispod serves as a ‘filter’ to prevent the sieve in the pod holder from getting clogged withscale residue.5 Put a bowl with a capacity of at least 1500ml under the spout to collect thedescaling mixture. (Fig. 7)Note: Make sure the bowl is placed stably on the drip tray or the foot of the machine toprevent it from wobbling or toppling over during descaling. You can also use a square orrectangular container.6 Press the 2-cup button qq and let the machine operate. Repeat this until thewater reservoir is empty. (Fig. 29)Never interrupt the descaling process!7 Repeat steps 1 to 6. Replace the used pod with another used pod to filter outthe scale residue.Note:To descale properly, you have to use 2 litres of descaling mixture.Note: Make sure you push down the lid lever until it snaps home with a click. You can onlystart the descaling process when the lid is closed and the lid lever is properly locked.8 Rinse the water reservoir with tap water. Fill the water reservoir up to theMAX indication with tap water and repeat steps 3 to 6.Note: Do not refill the water reservoir with used hot water or the used descaling mixture.9 Fill the water reservoir with fresh tap water up to the MAX indication againand repeat steps 3 to 6 once more.Note: Always rinse the machine by letting it empty two full water reservoirs.Note:You can also rinse the machine by letting it complete two flushing cycles asdescribed in ‘Flushing’ in chapter ‘Cleaning’.10 Remove the used pad and clean the pod holder after descaling to prevent thesieve in the centre from getting clogged.Frost-free storageIf the machine has already been used and therefore has been flushed with water, youmay only use and store it in a frost-free place to prevent it from becoming damaged.ReplacementAll removable parts can be ordered from your Philips dealer or a Philips service centre.Environment- Do not throw away the machine with the normal household waste at the endof its life, but hand it in at an official collection point for recycling. If you are unable to solve the problem with the information below, seechapter ‘Guarantee & service’.Problem SolutionThe light in the on/offbutton continues to flashslowly. You have not yet flushed the machine. Seechapter ‘Preparing the machine for use’.Problem SolutionYou have used the SENSEO ® coffee machine at analtitude higher than 2200 metres above sea level. Thishas caused the water in the machine to start boilingbefore it has reached the required temperature, which prevents the machine from functioningproperly. Switch off the machine and no longer use itat altitudes higher than 2200 metres above sea level. The light in the on/offbutton continues to flashrapidly.Make sure that:the water reservoir is placed properly;there is enough water in the water reservoir (i.e.above the q MIN level if you want to brew 1 cup);the ambient temperature is not lower than 10°C. If itis, the machine does not function properly. When I push one of thebuttons, nothing happens.Make sure you have inserted the plug properly intothe wall socket. Also make sure you have closedthe lid and locked the lid lever. If the lid is not closedor the lid lever is not pushed until it locks with a click, the machine does not work.Water leaks from themachine. You may have filled the water reservoir beyond theMAX level. Never fill the water reservoir beyond thislevel.Perhaps the sieve in the centre of the pod holderis clogged. If it is, unclog the sieve by holding thepod holder under a running tap. If necessary, use awashing-up brush or a pin to unclog the sieve.ACheck if the coffee pod is placed properly in thecentre of the pod holder.Check if the sealing ring is not stuck under the edgeof the water distribution disc (see drawing at thebeginning of this user manual). It is perfectly normal for some drops of water tospill onto the worktop. This may happen, for instance, when you place or remove the water reservoir. Becareful when you remove used coffee pods, for theremay still be some water on the pods.Perhaps you removed the water reservoir when thecoffee machine was heating up. This may cause somewater to leak out of the machine (this water normallyends up in the water reservoir). If none of the above solutions solve the problem, contact the Philips Consumer Care Centre in yourcountry.I cannot open the lid. A vacuum may have temporarily formed under thelid.Switch off the machine and wait 24 hours beforepulling up the lever to open the lid. Do not use forcewhen pulling up the lever to open the lid. When the lid opens, take out the pod holder andunclog the hole by holding the pod holder under arunning tap. If necessary, use a washing-up brush or apin to unclog the hole.Make sure you do not move the SENSEO ® machine.Moving the machine, placing it outdoors or in acool or cold environment does not accelerate theunlocking of the lid.Do NOT put the SENSEO ® machine in the fridge orfreezer, as this does not accelerate the unlocking ofthe lid. You can prevent the lid from getting locked bycleaning the pod holder regularly. Never put groundcoffee (filter-fine grind) in the pod holder. Preventpods from tearing by placing them in the pod holderwith the convex side pointing downwards. Check ifthe coffee in the pod is evenly distributed when youplace the pod in the pod holder. Press the pods lightlyinto the pod holder. If problems continue to occur, contact the PhilipsConsumer Care Centre in your country.44222.200.0483.1 |
