Click on the SystemPreferences icon at the bottom ofthe Macintosh’s screen.STEP 2. Click on the Network icon.STEP 3. Make sure that your networkconnection is highlighted in the list ofconnections to the right of the mainpart of the Network window andthat its status reads “Connected.”The Router’s IP address will bedisplayed.PICTURE 2-18PICTURE 2-19When ConfigTool launches, it will producea list of all QC-Series IP cameras that areconnected to the same network. Thiswill confirm that your camera has beensuccessfully added to your network.To ensure that the camera and theconnection are operating properly, right clickon the camera’s name in the list.A pop up window saying, “Open DeviceWeb” will open. Click on it to open a browserwindow.When the browser window has opened, youwill be presented with a login screen for theQ-See Web Service. Since you’re on thesame network as the camera, you will want toselect LAN from the options at the bottom ofthe screen.PICTURE 2-20PICTURE 2-21To test this, once you have connected theIP camera to a network, you will need to runthe ConfigTool software on a computerconnected to the same router.This Windows software is located in theSoftware folder on the CD that came withyour system. Macintosh computer users willneed to use the Search Device functionwithin the Device Manage window in PSSto locate the camera. PSS is covered inChapter 4.PSSPSSTESTING THE CONNECTIONYour camera features UPnP (Universal Plug ‘n Play) connectivity. This allows network devicesto be automatically added to the network and communicate with other devices within itwithout additional setup. If your Network router has this feature - and it is turned on - yourcamera may be accessible from the moment you connect it to the network.
