Network Switch Installation Guide 19QuantaMesh T4000 SeriesBMC of T4048-IX2T4048-IX2 has a built-in baseboard management controller (BMC) that plays the role ofmonitoring the whole system. The BMC is an independent subsystem with its own processor andmemory so that it can run well even if the switch system hangs or powers down.BMC FeaturesBMC supports the following features:• Support IPMI v1.5 and v2.0 partial• Serial over LAN• HTTPS support• Health status and hardware monitoring report• Events log• Event notification via LED indicator (on the chassis) and PET (Platform Event Trap)• Platform Event Filtering (PEF) to perform the selected action• Chassis management• Watchdog, auto system re-start and auto recoveryTo access BMC, the system allows the out-of-band management port which is shared betweenthe switch and BMC. The system administrator can manage BMC remotely via Web by enteringthe its default IP address. By default, the BMC IP address is pre-configured to 192.168.0.120.[BMC default IP address]192.168.0.120BMC supports two network connection options: Static IP and DHCP. For static IP connection, theadministrator can change the BMC IP address via Web. Once the IP address is changed, re-loginis required. The console port is set only for the switch configuration. Although the hidden pin is accessiblethrough the hole on the chassis, it is reserved specifically for debugging purpose by themanufacturer and is not intended for end users operation. The hidden pin is located inbetween 38 and 39 port LEDs as shown in the illustration below.35 36353641 42414243434439 40394037 383738Hidden pinIn addition, BMC also supports IPMI (Intelligent Platform Management Interface) protocol for theremote control.
