8. TROUBLESHOOTING6. COMPLETING THE INSTALLATIONSECURING THE MOTOR CABLE1. (Fig. 10) Attach the loop of themotor cable to the ceiling mounting platewith the screw and washer set provided.Adjust the motor cable coming out of thetop of the fan motor assembly. It shouldhave some tension, but not so much thatthe hanging structure becomes slack.(Fig. 11) When the desired length isachieved, tighten the screw on the side ofthe conical cable holder with the allenwrench provided to hold the cable inplace.2. Make sure the wiring is safely insidethe outlet box as instructed in Step 4 -ELECTRICAL CONNECTIONS.3. Install the canopy by removing thefour screws pre-installed on the rim of themounting plate. Align the holes/slots inthe canopy with the holes in the mount-ing plate. Attach the four screws andtighten to secure. Make sure the canopyis not quite touching the ceiling. Tightenscrews.FAN WILL NOT START1. Check that the electricity has beenturned on at the circuit breaker whichhad probably been turned off duringinstallation.2. Turn off the electricity. Check allconnections in the wiring of the fan at theceiling and make sure it follows the wiringinstructions outlined in this manual.NOISENote: Always allow a day or two “run-in”time for any new fan at medium or highspeed. When attempting to diagnosenoise, listen carefully from several sidesto try and isolate the location of the noise(blades, upper end, motor, light kit, etc.).1. Turn off the power. Loosen thecanopy and check that the wiring and/orwire nut connectors are not resting againstthe canopy, possibly vibrating while thefan is on.2. Use of a standard light rheostat or anunapproved fan wall control to control thefan speed will always cause an annoying“hum”. Many fan motors do not workquietly with solid state variable speedcontrols.3. Check that the rubber gasket on themounting bracket has been installed ifcalled for in the installation instructions.4. Check that the canopy is not touchingthe ceiling.5. Check that all screws are tight.FAN TURNS, BUT DOES NOTMOVE MUCH AIR1. The fan may be running in reverse.2. The distance from the ceiling to theblades may be too small. For downrodfans, optimal placement would be 8-9 feetfrom the floor.3. The room may contain items whichobstruct the air flow.4. The fan may be too small for the sizeof the room.EXCESSIVE WOBBLENote: A small amount of wobble isconsidered acceptable and should not beconsidered a defect.1. Make certain all blades are tightlyattached.REPLACEMENT PARTSAVAILABLEA full range of genuine replacement spare partsare available at reasonable cost directly fromQuorum International. Secure thetransmitter with the two screws pro-vided. Attach the face plate over thetransmitter with the two screws pro-vided.4. This wall control and receiver unithas 16 different code combinations. Slidethe small bank of code switches on thecanopy receiver so they match with theswitch settings on the wall transmitter.Your fan will not operate if the switchsettings do not match. If you haveanother remote operated fan in yourhome, make sure its combination ofswitch settings are different from thoseof your new fan.5. Put the receiver unit inside thecanopy.Fig. 10Fig. 12Fig. 11Outlet BoxCeilingMountingPlateMotorAssemblyAllenWrenchBladesBladeTeethWasher/Nut4. Lift the ceiling canopy ring up to theceiling and snap into place.5. BLADE INSTALLATION(Fig. 12) Align the blade teeth into thecorresponding holes in the motor assem-bly. Snap down into place. DO NOTbend the blades when installing theblades.6. Turn on the fan and check the4 speed positions - 3 speeds and off - onthe wall transmitter. Check the reverseposition which is also on the wall trans-mitter.7. FAN OPERATION AND CAREFig. 13WINTERFig. 141. A ceiling fan is an environmentallysmart choice to cool as well as help towarm your home or office. Adjust theHVAC thermostat during fan use to saveadditional energy and money on your airconditioning and heating utility bills. You should see a reduction in both heat-ing and cooling costs by regular use ofyour fan.Do not hesitate to use your fan dur-ing summer and winter months. In sum-mer, using the reverse button, adjust thefan’s direction so cool air is blown down, producing a cooling breeze. (Fig. 13) Inwinter, reverse the fan so that an upwardairflow will push warm air off the ceilingand circulate it downwards into the liv-ing area (Fig. 14). In winter months, usethe fan at a lower speed than summer.2. Periodically check tightness of allscrews. A clicking or rattling noise is asure indication of loosening screws.Since screws will invariably work looseover time, at least once a year, tighten allthe screws.3. Clean the chrome on your fan peri-odically using only a cloth dampenedwith a mild detergent solution. (This willremove any fingerprints or dust.) Neveruse solvents. Then dry with a soft cloth.Dust off the blades with a soft cloth asthe acrylic will scratch easily. Glasscleaner may also be used to clean finger-prints off the blades.4. You will never need to oil or lubri-cate your fan. Its permanently sealedbearings will provide trouble-free, silentoperation for many years.5. If repairs or servicing are everrequired, to avoid possible electricshock, turn off the electricity at themain fuse or circuit panel before youbegin.6. This model ceiling fan may also beused with a hand-held remote control(sold separately).Angel Inst -5/04 6/23/2004 12:00 AM Page 4 |
