Hopper Lid SwitchThe hopper lid switch is located on the right side insidethe hopper. It senses whether the hopper lid is openand displays an icon on the wall control and will turn offthe feed motor.13. Igniter (Heating Element)The igniter is mounted on the base of the fire pot.Combustion air travels over the red hot igniter creatingsuper heated air that ignites the pellets or other fuels.14. Low Fuel IndicatorThe low fuel indicator is attached to the left side of thehopper. It senses the amount of fuel in the hopper andwill display an icon on the wall control.15. Optical Switch for the AugerThe optical switch is located on top of the feed systemand communicates to the wall control that the auger isWhen describing the location of a component,it is always AS YOU FACE THE FRONT OFTHE APPLIANCE.A. Component Functions1. Auto-Clean MotorThe auto-clean motor is located under and behindthe fire pot on the left side, inside the convection airchamber. It automatically opens and closes the fire potfloor so ashes can fall into the ash pan.2. Auto-Clean SwitchThe auto-clean switch is located on top of the auto-clean motor. It communicates to the control boardwhen the fire pot floor is open and when the auto-cleansystem has completed its cycle and is back in the home(closed) position.3. 12 Volt Battery Back-Up Cable (Optional Accessory)This is an optional accessory. It will plug into theappliance at the rear of the appliance. An icon willdisplay on the wall control when the appliance has lostmain power and is running on battery back-up.4. Combustion (Exhaust) BlowerThe combustion (exhaust) blower is mounted in thebottom right rear of appliance. The blower is designedto pull the exhaust from the appliance and push it outthrough the venting system.5. Control BoardThe control board is located on the lower left side ofappliance. It controls the functioning of the applianceand communicates with the wall control. The controlboard can only be opened by an authorized dealer.6. Convection BlowerThe convection blower is mounted at the bottom leftrear of the appliance. The convection blower pushesheated air through the heat exchange system into theroom.7. It senses when thedoor is open and will display an icon on the wall control, and will turn off the auto-clean system and feed motorfor safety.8. Feed SystemThe feed system is located on the right side of theappliance and can be removed as an entire assembly. The assembly includes the feed motor, mountingbracket, bearing and feed spring (auger). The hollowfeed spring (auger) pulls pellets up the feed tube fromthe hopper area and drops them down the feed chuteinto the fire pot.9. Fire potThe fire pot is made of high quality ductile iron. Thefloor of the fire pot automatically opens for cleaning andis operated by the auto-clean fire pot system. The floorneeds to return to a completely closed position or theappliance will not operate properly.E300 Watt Igniters come installed in brand new Mt.Vernon AE appliances and are for pellet fuel only. The 380 Watt Igniter is required for burning multi-grain fuels and is included in the component pack.Multi-fuels include, corn, sunflower seeds, andwheat.spinning or if it has stopped.16. Power ReceptacleThe power receptacle is located on the lower rearof the appliance. Check the wall receptacle for 120volt, 60 Hz (standard current). Make sure the outlet isgrounded and has the correct polarity. A good qualitysurge protector is highly recommended to protect theelectronics.17. Power SupplyThe power supply is located at the rear of theappliance. It converts 120 volt AC current to 15 volt DCcurrent to power the appliance.
