Quadra-Fire • QVI30S, QVI35S • 340-901 Rev. i • 6/0914• Ensure that gas line does not come in contact with outerwrap of appliance. Follow local codes.• Incoming gas line should be piped into the valvecompartment and connected to the 1/2 inch connectionon the manual shutoff valve.• Check all fittings and connections of appliance whichmay have loosened during shipping.88 Gas InformationNote: Have the gas supply line installed in accordancewith local building codes, if any. If not, follow ANSI223.1. Installation should be done by a qualified installerapproved and/or licensed as required by the locality. (Inthe Commonwealth of Massachusetts installation must beperformed by a licensed plumber or gas fitter).A. Fuel ConversionsBefore making gas connections ensure that appliance be-ing installed is compatible with the available gas type.Any natural or propane gas conversions necessary tomeet the appliance and locality needs must be made bya qualified technician using Hearth & Home Technologiesspecified and approved parts.B. Gas PressuresProper input pressures are required for optimum appli-ance performance. Gas line sizing requirements need tobe made following NFPA54.Fire Risk.Explosion Hazard.High pressure will damage valve.• Disconnect gas supply piping BEFOREpressure testing gas line at test pressuresabove 1/2 psig.• Close the manual shutoff valve BEFOREpressure testing gas line at test pressuresequal to or less than 1/2 psig.Verify inlet pressures.• High pressure may cause overfire condition.• Low pressure may cause explosion.• Verify minimum pressures when otherhousehold gas appliances are operating.Install regulator upstream of valve if linepressure is greater than 1/2 psig.NOTE: Gas line may be run from either side of the applianceprovided the hole in the outer wrap does NOT exceed 2-1/2inches in diameter and does not penetrate the firebox.NOTE: A listed (and Commonwealth of Massachusetts ap-proved) 1/2 inch (13 mm) T-handle manual shut-off valve andflexible gas connector are connected to the 1/2 inch (13 mm)control valve inlet.• If substituting for these components, please consultlocal codes for compliance.Pressure requirements for appliance are shown in thetable below. Minimum pressures must be met when otherhousehold gas appliances are operating.Refer to Reference Section 15 for location of gas lineaccess in appliance.Gas Leak Risk• Support control when attaching pipe toprevent bending gas line.NOTE: The gap between supply piping and gas accesshole may be caulked with high temperature caulk or stuffedwith non-combustible, unfaced insulation to prevent cold airinfiltration.WARNINGWARNINGPressure Natural Gas PropaneMinimum inlet pressure 5.0 inchesw.c.11.0 inchesw.c.Maximum inlet gas pressure 14.0 inchesw.c.14.0 inchesw.c.Manifold pressure 3.5 inchesw.c.10.0 inchesw.c.WARNINGC.
