32 Quatech QTM-8524 Manual3.3.2 Mounting the QTM-24ANT-CSafetyThe QTM-24ANT-C antenna has been designed to attach to and hang fromstandard ceiling panel runners. To prevent personal injury or equipmentdamage, the antenna must be securely mounted per the following instruc-tions. The QTM-24ANT-C should be professionally installed.LocationThe location at which the QTM-24ANT-C is mounted is very important.Objects such as metal columns, walls, etc. will reduce efficiency. Best perfor-mance is achieved when transmit and receive antennas are mounted at thesame height, and in a direct line of sight with no obstructions. If this is notpossible, and reception is poor, it is a good idea to try a few different mount-ing positions to optimize reception.MountingThe QTM-24ANT-C is suitable for use indoors or outside. The antennabracket fits ceiling support runners 13/15” to 1-1/4” (2.1 to 3.2 cm) wide.To install the antenna, follow the steps below:(1) Loosen the 1/4-20 hex nut and position the antenna mount over thesupport runner. (See Figure 3.3.2.1).(2) Squeeze the bracket firmly onto the runner (hand-pressure is adequate)and tighten the hex nut securely as shown in Figure 3.3.2.2(3) Carefully screw the antenna onto the 1/4-20 screw (lightly hand-tighten) as shown in Figure 3.3.2.2(4) Secure coaxial cable along the support runner using tape or cable ties.If a different mount is used, limit the depth it is threaded into the mountinghole to .35 inches (.9 cm). For outdoor mounting, install the antenna with thethreaded hole down.
